South Albania | We work in the municipality of Cerrik, a rural area whose productive activities are mainly based onsubsistence farming and livestock breeding, and where job opportunities are very limited and poorly paid. High unemployment rates are the cause of widespread poverty and food insecurity, which mainly affects the Roma and Egyptian ethnic minorities. Material deprivation is in turn linked to serious socio-cultural problems such asalcoholism, school drop-outs, violence against women and child labour. |
